Update Week 15 (February 19, 2014)

I'm off this week until after my birthday. But this is not really a vacation. The building site is causing issues again, and I spent a whole morning calling in circles to come to a solution, just to be forced to call in a meeting so the issues can be clarified face-to-face. And my building site manager is calling for a crisis meeting as well. Stress level? Pretty high.

This week's stats:

How far along? 15 weeks

Total weight gain: Way too much! About 8 lbs, as of last week. I'm scared of the next appointment, since there's going to be way too much cake in the meantime.

Maternity clothes? None yet, but I went out and picked up a cute dress second-hand that'll help me out the last weeks of work I hope.

Stretch marks? None.

Sleep: Weird dreams. Oh goodness, they are weird!

Best moment this week: Lily's birthday party with her friends. Oh dear was it stressful, and loud, but she had so much fun, and that's the most important thing!

Miss anything? A glass of wine after a long day..

Movement: Yes. I can feel the little flutters becoming a little stronger.

Food cravings: Salads.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Thankfully nothing.

Gender: We'll find out at our next u/s appointment.

Labor signs: None

Symptoms: The usual sore boobs.

Belly button in or out? in.

Wedding rings on or off? on.

Happy or moody most of the time: Really, really stressed out right now. I just want the stress to be over so badly, but know that I'll have to deal with it a little longer.

Looking forward to:  Hubby and the girls to be able to feel the baby move, but that's going to take a few more weeks.

Update Week 14 (February 12, 2014)

What a week! On Monday, I had another appointment with my midwife and OB/GYN. First of all, the midwife checked for the baby; it took her forever to find the heartbeat, and there I was, getting more and more nervous. With Violet, the midwife was able to find the heartbeat in no time at 12 weeks, and this time, nothing to be found. In the end, the midwife mentioned that she could hear the little one moving around in there, but baby was hiding from the doppler. During the ultrasound, baby didn't want to participate either, which resulted in a pretty good butt picture. After a break, my doctor finally managed to get the measurements she needed for the First Trimester Screening, and all looks good. Hubby and the girls were able to come for the u/s as well, and the girls loved to see their new sibling on the screen.

This week's stats:

How far along? 14 weeks

Total weight gain: About 8 lbs. Ugh..

Maternity clothes? None.

Stretch marks? None.

Sleep: Pretty normal right now.

Best moment this week: There were so many. Feeling the first little flutters, seeing our little one on the u/s, and finding out that the results of the screening were very, very good!

Miss anything? Smoked salmon.

Movement: Yes, yes, yes!! Finally I was able to feel the first little flutters...

Food cravings:Smoked salmon..

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing. Since the first trimester is over, I don't expect any major queasiness any more..

Gender: Unfortunately, no clue yet. But we'll find out in another 8 weeks or so..

Labor signs: None.

Symptoms: My bras fit very, very snug right now..

Belly button in or out? in.

Wedding rings on or off? on.

Happy or moody most of the time: Just tired, honestly. I'm looking forward to the week off I'm going to have next week!

Looking forward to:  Being off work for a week. I will still have to get up early most week because the girls need to go to kindergarten, but I'll be home!

Update Week 13 (February 5. 2014)

I officially have a 6-year old now! I can't believe it. We celebrated her birthday with close friends and family last Sunday. My cousin came with his family as well; he and his girlfriend are expecting their second boy in March, so we will have again kids of the same age. It was great to have everyone together like that!

This week's stats:

Total weight gain: I'm scared of the doctor's appointment next week, where I'll find out the actual weight gain. Too much cake  :-)

Maternity clothes? None yet.

Stretch marks? None.

Sleep: Quite normal right now.

Best moment this week: Celebrating Lily's 6th birthday.

Labor signs: None.

Symptoms: Still sore boobs.

Belly button in or out? in

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or moody most of the time: I start feeling pretty normal again. Still a little brain-dead at times, but it's getting better..

Looking forward to:  The doctor's appointment next week!

Update Week 12 (January 29, 2014)

I got to go to hubby's concert on Sunday. It was a lot of fun. And it was difficult to choose what to wear. No-one knows yet that we are pregnant, so it would have been somewhat suboptimal if the coworkers I went to the concert with would have found out that way. According to the regulations, I need to notify my boss as soon as I find out. But luckily, it seems that I managed to hide the little bump.
This week's stats:

How far along? 12 weeks

Total weight gain: Lst week it was 3 lbs.

Maternity clothes? None.

Stretch marks? No.

Sleep: Still getting up almost every night to get Violet, but besides that my sleep is pretty good.

Best moment this week: Telling my parents and my best friend. Oh, and Lily telling on us to my cousin. He's going to be a dad again in March, so once again our kids will be close in age  :-)

Miss anything? Not watching what to eat. Most dishes at the buffet hubby invited me to after the concert was either meat or uncooked fish or gourmet cheese that I was not sure if it was pasteurized. Luckily, the waiter at the buffet was knowledgeable and confirmed that the cheese indeed was pasteurized and I did not have to leave hungry.

Movement: None yet.

Food cravings: tuna

Anything making you queasy or sick: No.

Gender: we'll find out soon enough. Maybe even on February 10!

Labor signs: None.

Symptoms: Sore boobs

Belly button in or out? in.

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or moody most of the time: The tantrums are kicking in. Luckily, I have them under control. I'd hate freaking out again like a little baby!

Looking forward to:  More announcements. I don't know why, but I'm not looking forward to it as much as the last two times. I am nervous, and always expecting something bad to happen. But so far, nothing but good news so far, luckily!

Update Week 11 (January 22, 2014)

We've had our first midwife appointment on Monday. I can tell you, this lady cannot draw blood from me. After her first attempt I could have told her it's not going to happen that day any more, but she insisted on trying a second time and then let a nurse give it a third try. Not a droplet to be had from me! So I have the questionable honor to go in again to have my blood drawn to find out all the details I already know: My blood type is A+, and I don't have any STDs or HIV.

This week's stats:

How far along? 11 weeks

Total weight gain: about 3 lbs.

Maternity clothes? No

Stretch marks? None

Sleep: I'm sleeping pretty good these days, except that Violet wakes up almost every night and wants to be taken to our bed.

Best moment this week: The midwife appointment.

Miss anything? Actually not.

Movement: None yet

Food cravings: More tuna.

Anything making you queasy or sick:No, everything feels normal.

Gender: we'll find out later.

Labor signs: None.

Belly button in or out? Far in.

Happy or moody most of the time: Apart from the fact that I'm pretty emotional in general, I feel pretty normal.

Looking forward to:  The next ultrasound on February 10!

Update Week 10 (January 15, 2014)

Finally, today we had our first appointment. It was so nervous; I literally have no real symptoms except ore boobs, and feeling so well was somehow suspicious to me. But luckily, all is well, baby is measuring a little behind, at 8 weeks 5 days, but there was a strong heart beat and the doctor was not concerned at all.

This week's stats:

How far along? 10 weeks

Total weight gain: about 2 lbs.

Maternity clothes? None.

Stretch marks? No.

Sleep: Insomnia getting better, so I'm actually getting great sleep.

Best moment this week: The first prenatal appoinment and the ultrasound. Baby is measuring small, at 8 weeks 5 days, but the doctor said that this is normal, and we had a nice, stron heartbeat.

Miss anything? Nothing really.

Movement: Not yet.

Food cravings: Nothing really, maybe coke, but not as bad as the last weeks.

Anything making you queasy or sick: No, I'm good.

Gender: No idea yet. Most people bet on boy, I hope for another little girl  :-)

Labor signs: None

Symptoms: Sore boobs

Belly button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or moody most of the time: I'm feeling pretty normal and stable these days. Hopefully, it stays that way  :-)

Looking forward to:  Our first appointment with the midwife next week.
